City of Port Orchard,

City of Bainbridge Island,

City of Bremerton,

Jackson Park Naval housing

the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

We handle more than 4,000 complaints a year including stray animals, animal cruelty and neglect, and animal nuisance problems.

All KHS Animal Control Officers are sworn into their appointments by the Superior Court as Washington Humane Officers to uphold all laws of the State of Washington and Kitsap County.

Each officer has obtained professional training and graduated from the Animal Control Academy at the Criminal Justice Training Center in Des Moines, Washington. Animal Control Officers have limited arrest powers and enforce only animal regulations within Kitsap County and contracted municipalities.

  • Inspect and license grooming parlors and commercial kennels
  • Patrol county and city streets for ordinance violations
  • Dog bite prevention to local businesses
